Lori Greene is the artist, designer & owner of Pavanne Jewelry.
She began creating jewelry in 1989 and selling her work in 1990.
"Jewelry is like a meditation to me. As early as I can remember,
I have looked for things to get "lost in" or mesmerized by
...travelling by eye or ear.
I create my jewelry pieces by hand in my California Mojave Desert home studio. I began my adventure into metalworking in 1988 I am primarily self-taught. I have taken basic benchwork classes and found it sharpened the focus of my already established techniques. I find it much more exciting & rewarding to develop pieces by my own methods.
My items are created by a highly-refined soldering technique that I have developed since 1988. I hand-forge brass, sterling & copper pieces to be used in my designs, as well. I set my works with crystal, pearl, stones, vintage cabachons. My items are built free form of molds or castings. I am eco-minded in the creation of my jewelry pieces. About 85% or more of the sterling that I use is from recycled sources. Also, I use much vintage surplus supply in my items... these are objects that I are antique extras from the 1920's-80's that are being set or used for the 1st time in my designs!
My work is inspired by nature, other eras & music. I like the singularity & grace found in nature, along with the look of items touched by time. Therefore, my work has a textured ‘aged’ elegance. My pieces are becoming more inspired by music, as I began to play violin in October 2010. My great-grandfather was from Bohemia (before it was Czech Republic) & in my interest of this history... I carry a ‘Spiritual Bohemian’look into my work more & more.
I show my items directly to the public through regional art events. I have wholesale collections, as well, that I sell through tradeshows. My pieces are available through galleries & boutiques in the US and Canada. "
